Latif Tas is a socio-legal Research Fellow at SOAS, University of London. His research interests are law and society, dispute resolution, ethnic conflict management, migration, diaspora and transnationalism in Europe and Middle East. He has always been in solidarity with the Kurdish cause, since the mobilization for Ocalan as he was in Italy in 1998-1999. Since 2014 he is active in organizing demonstrations and conferences in support of the Kurdish struggle in Rojava and Bakur.

In 2015 and 2016 he made a full audio and written reportage from Bakur, Basur and Rojava.

He joined the YPG in May 2016 until October. He was deployed on the Ain Issa-Raqqa frontline and took part to the Operation for the Liberation of Manbij.

Since he has come back to Italy he is traveling through the country to give talks about Rojava, Kurdistan and the Revolution.

He has always been in solidarity with the Kurdish cause, since the mobilization for Ocalan as he was in Italy in 1998-1999. Since 2014 he is active in organizing demonstrations and conferences in support of the Kurdish struggle in Rojava and Bakur.

In 2015 and 2016 he made a full audio and written reportage from Bakur, Basur and Rojava.

He joined the YPG in May 2016 until October. He was deployed on the Ain Issa-Raqqa frontline and took part to the Operation for the Liberation of Manbij.

Since he has come back to Italy he is traveling through the country to give talks about Rojava, Kurdistan and the Revolution.

She ha conducted research in North and South Kurdistan and written and presented several papers on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq at national and international conferences, including The Failure of Power-Sharing in the Kurdistan Region (American Political Science Association, 2016), Power Sharing, Autonomy, and Conflict in Greater Kurdistan: Exploring the Effects of Transnational Group Power on Intrastate Conflict (Southern Political Science Association, 2015) and the award-winning Federalism, Consociation, and Ethnic Conflict (New York State Political Science Association, 2014, Best Paper). She has previously contributed analyses to The Pasewan, a bilingual English-Kurdish news website.

She is building on her dissertation project funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation and the Middle East Research Competition of the Ford Foundation. The manuscript, entitled War Against Politics: Law, Sovereignty and Terror at the Margins of Turkey, focuses on marginalized Alevi-populated working class neighborhoods in Istanbul and analyses the complex and constitutive relationship between law, state violence, counter violence and sovereignty in Turkey.
